John Babb is going to ask the Doc who is in the Devon Mountain Rescue Team to put a list together of what I should take. John's brother-in-law, George, will source the bits I need from his work when I get him the list. Bob (on this forum) has advised me to take plenty of anti-biotics.

Medi kits are a very location-specific item (that's what we're taught on the mountain guides course anyway) for example mine is more suited to the northern boreal forests and include items such as Tick pliers (using a cigarette to remove them is a BAD idea....check out Lymes disease).
Good all round stuff includes a sam splint, tincture of benzoin, burn dressings, antibiotics, Epi Pen (just because you're not allergic to wasp stings in the UK doesn't mean that Mongolian ones won't have you gasping for air) loads of Immodium, a scalpel or two and a bunch of Tampax (they're sterile and make really good wound dressings).
Also, half of the stuff I carry when guiding has a first aid use too. For example a thermarest will make a really good inflatable cast when applied correctly to a broken limb with flat webbing tape.
