Eyup,

I generally carry a regular hand held GPS on the bike (Garmin E-Trex). The reason for this is that in the Canadian North (not quite as wild as Mongolia) if you crash your bike and need to hike out of there.....you have a portable navigation Device.
Also.....i'm about to invest in a SPOT GPS www.findmespot.com . They work anywhere on the planet and can alert friends/relatives too. Also, they have a tracking facility that is far far superior that the stupid GSM system I was using this year in Alaska and the Yukon. What do you think?

Cracking idea. Well done!
I was looking at the garmin Rino but this is better as I can have my GPS60CX and this as well.

I've sourced a road map of Mongolia which marks the fuel stations so I should be able to plan that part a bit better.

The updater doesn't seem to be working, doesn't show where you are. Going by diary descriptions only. Hope the weather holds out smile
